FAQ
Who is eligible to apply to The Endurance Scholarship?
The Endurance Scholarship is open to students of color from or living in the Chicagoland area currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution or Chicagoland private elementary school. We require a Chicagoland address and proof of enrollment during the application process.
What is considered Chicagoland?
We define the Chicagoland area as the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs within a 40 mile radius.
What are acceptable forms of proof of enrollment?
For our higher education scholarships, we accept:
Official academic transcripts of accredited post-secondary institutions
Unofficial academic transcripts from BannerWeb
Official Letters of Registration from the Registrar’s Office

If you have an academic hold on your account, please submit an Official letter from your school’s Registrar’s Office verifying the hold.
For our private elementary scholarships, we accept official and most recent school report cards. Grades are not a factor in eligibility.
We DO NOT accept:
High school transcripts or high school report cards

Am I a “student of color”?
We define students of color to be students who do not identify as only white or Caucasian. Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latino, and multiracial students are considered students of color under this definition.
I am a DREAMer, can I apply?
Yes, you can apply to our general education awards. Unfortunately, you cannot apply for our “Passport Project.”
I attend a trade school, can I apply?
Yes. The Endurance Scholarship is open to Chicagoland students of color attending accredited post-secondary institutions, which include trade/vocational schools, undergraduate through graduate-level colleges and universities, and community colleges.
Do I have to attend school in the Chicagoland area?
No. We only require applicants to be Chicagoland residents when not attending school and able to provide a local address upon application.
I was awarded a scholarship in the most recent cycle. Am I eligible to apply in the following cycle?
Unfortunately no. In order to create space for others to have a chance at receiving the scholarship, we ask if you were awarded a scholarship in our most recent cycle that you refrain from applying in the cycle immediately following. However once that cycle completes, you are more than welcome to apply the following cycle.
I am applying for the Passport Project. What is a recent student?
We define recent student as anyone who had been enrolled in and attended an accredited post-secondary institution or private elementary school in the most recent semester. For example, if applications for the Passport Project opens in September of any given year, those who attended school during the Spring Semester that same year are eligible.
I already have a Passport but am in need of a Student Visa, can I still apply?
Yes, our Passport Project covers the cost of applying for and obtaining a U.S. Passport (via standard delivery), but if needed can be used to supplement other travel document expenses (i.e. visa(s), flight ticket(s) etc.).
I am a DREAMER/DACA Student. Can I apply for the Passport Project?
Unfortunately, not. However, we are currently researching information and resources on how we can best support our DREAMER / DACA applicants in their travels.
